When I was first starting out in HR, over 20 years ago, I wasted a lot of time researching, making mistakes, creating templates, calling lawyers, using recruiters, attending 1/2 and 1 day workshops, purchasing subscriptions, and the list goes on. The majority of my days were spent on trial and error. On one hand, I liked the challenge and the learning curve, but on the other hand it was exhausting!!! I wished I could find everything in one place.
When it came time to have a difficult conversation with an employee or dismiss someone from the company, I had very little confidence. I was nervous, fidgety and often lost sleep. I even failed so miserably that the one company that I worked for had to settle a legal claim with a disgruntled employee who’s employment terminated for cause.
On the recruitment side of things, I followed processes that made no sense. Long drawn out, unnecessary interviews, using recruitment agencies and skipping steps lead to high turnover, lack of engagement and poor culture. It was tiring and felt pointless.
Why am I telling you all of this?
Because today I am a WIZARD in HR!
I now have knowledge and confidence as a human resources professional AND for the past 8 years I have helped countless businesses with their pain and frustrations of trying to navigate through HR, just like I once did.
